The Real History of Penal Substitutionary Atonement - Answering Mike Winger E1
Mike Winger produced six videos in defense of Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA). There, he claimed Christian leaders who reject Penal Substitution do so by way of misrepresenting the facts, engaging in historical revisionism & teaching unBiblical views of how we are saved. To defend his claims, he quotes from various sources, such as Scripture & early Christians. It should be noted that the passages of Scripture Mike quotes & the Early Church Fathers he references do NOT teach PSA. With respect to Mike, it is our contention that he is the one who is engaging in historical revisionism, & an anachronistic handling of the materials. Though, we do not believe he is doing so intentionally, but rather the result of a bias which has left him far from objective. This series of videos intends to offer a respectful response & counter-argument to the claims Mike has made. In this episode we provide quotes from @MikeWinger as well as numerous passages from Scripture, clips & quotes from various theologians such as James White @AominOrg, Dr Gwenfair Walters Adams, John MacArthur @gracetoyou, R.C. Sproul @LigonierMinistries, Steve Gregg @SteveGreggVideos, Wayne Grudem & Walter Martin; demonstrating widespread consensus that Penal Substitution is a later development & not an essential doctrine of the Christian faith. "Does the Bible Teach Penal Substitution?" The answer is a resounding, "No!"
