God's Wrath in PSA - Answering Mike Winger E10
For the 10th episode in our series responding to claims Mike Winger has made regarding Penal Substitution, we consider how God's wrath is viewed in Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA).
Across six videos (as of this recording) Mike has argued that Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) does not entail a split in the Trinity, or hold that God hates us, or that Jesus saves us from God, or that God murdered His Son. However, as we document here, that is precisely what PSA entails.
@MikeWinger seemingly is rejecting several entailments of PSA, while simultaneously seeking to affirm and maintain it as a cohesive model. Yet, after amputating so many aspects of PSA, can it still be said that Mike is actually affirming PSA and not forming some new Atonement theory? In this episode we provide clips & quotes from Mike, as well as numerous passages from Scripture, clips & quotes from various theologians such as John MacArthur @gracetoyou, W. Robert Godfrey, John H. Armstrong, Michael Youssef @leadingtheway, Greg Boyd @ReKnewOrg, Mark Driscoll, Hal Brunson, Paul Washer @Heartcrymissionary, RC Sproul @LigonierMinistries, Joseph A. Pipa, John Piper @desiringGod, Cyril of Alexandria, Steve Lawson, Brian Zahnd @WOLCTV; demonstrating the strong parallels between paganism and Penal Substitutionary Atonement.
"Does Penal Substitution have a problematic view of God's wrath?" The unequivocal answer is "Yes!"
