Forestalling Disagreement on PSA - Answering Mike Winger E7
Penal Substitution is the doctrine that in order for God to become propitious, the Father had to pour out His wrath on the Son, as only the blood of a God-man could pay the price for the sins of man. Mike Winger, the Bible Thinker, is a devout adherent of this PSA doctrine. To defend it as historical and Biblically sound, Mike produced a six part video series. There, he sought to defend PSA while simultaneously claiming Christians who reject PSA do so by way of misrepresenting the facts, engaging in historical revisionism & teaching unBiblical views of how we are saved. He insists PSA is the heart of Christianity and the Gospel. With respect to @MikeWinger, it is our contention that he is the one who is engaging in historical revisionism, & an anachronistic handling of the materials. Though, we do not believe he is doing so intentionally, but rather the result of a bias which has left him far from objective. In our continuing response to Mike Winger's defense of Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA), we consider the ways in which he engages in forestalling disagreement. The Forestalling Disagreement Fallacy occurs when tactics are used to make raising an objection seem to be contrarian or otherwise embarrassing, and thus to try to keep others from disagreeing. In this episode we provide quotes from Mike, as well as a clip from Wayne Grudem. "Should Christians reject Penal Substitution?" The answer is a resounding, "Yes!"
