Idol Killer
Divine Providence & the Problem of Evil
Dr Alan Rhoda, academic librarian and Christian philosopher joins Idol Killer to discuss the Problem of Evil in light of four views of Divine Providence (Calvinism, Molinism, Open Theism & Process Theism).
Dr Rhoda has earned dual Master’s degrees from the University of Bloomington, has taught philosophy at various institutions such as the University of Notre Dame and the University of Nevada. The main focus of his research has been on the openness of the future as contrasted with the settled nature of the past and present; publishing over a dozen papers, exploring different ways the open view can be understood.
The main focus of our conversation is Dr Rhoda's paper entitled: "Retrospective and Prospective Problems of Evil: A Comparative Assessment of Four Models of Divine Providence." In this paper he considers how each of the four views fair when considering the Retrospective and Prospective problems of evil.
